The temperature is dropping and the sun is going down.
In the absence of sunlight a fear settles over my life.
I truly am scared of going outside tonight.
So I will stay where it is safe.
In my room, where I can hide in fiction.
Where I can exercise a little control,
indulge my weaknesses,
and,
not face the things
I know I should.
