The thing that makes me most sad about my relationships with people is losing the clear, crystal sharp knowing of them. It happens with our parents, our grandparents, lovers and friends. It is heartbreaking to see others vividly for brief moments and then lose them in a fog.
this is beautiful. i hear you and i agree that knowing someone is never a static thing, because both the insides and outsides of people are extremely fluid. if this is true though, just as knowing someone is not a constant, either is not knowing them. somewhat exciting, i think!
